He said, "Son, when you grow up, will you be
the saviour of the broken, the beaten and the damned?"
He said, "Will you defeat them, your demons
and all the unbelievers, and all the plans they made?
Because one day I'll leave you, a phantom
to lead you in the summer and join the Black Parade..."
The way he's holding his left hand is a little unnatural, because I really wanted to get it in the image to demonstrate the finger, although I didn't manage to show the mangling of the hand itself as I had intended. Mixing up techniques again - this is somewhere between other types I've done in the past, namely watercolour pencil sketching
, abstract pen and colour
, and ink work
. Quite sadly, the best part I can really comprehend in this is the 'blood spatters' - because this really was astounding. The red ink in school is quite washy and pink, and I didn't want to risk wrecking it with that, so I added a few drops of black and a dash of brown - it came out quite dark, but dried perfectly. Definitely use this mixture again! Although it's less noticeable on the digital version, there are some paler splatters on the actual page that really look the kind of dirt amber-brown blood goes when it dries - it's eerie, but I love it.
Just have to find an excuse to splatter blood on things now...
Apparently relates to this
because Rao's brain said so.

I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy who had to sing the song
I'm not a hero, I'm just a man...
