The Multiple Presences of a Jack Withers

Description

No joke. It's killing me. Seeking is finished, but nonetheless continues to haunt me constantly - namely, Jack. Very few people are called Carel or Karen or Tas, but many, many people are called Jack, and also look like the inconspicuous generic tall brown-haired grey-eyed visualisation I have of him.
Mostly this is prohibited to an internal giggle when someone mentions a Jack. Disturbing came the time H-ah declared she had divorced H-en and married someone called Jack(it was a very small ceremony conducted in the back of science), to the point where I could not get rid of the image for love nor money. Because Jack Roth is my mental image for the character of Jack, and is coincidentally called Jack himself(which is even worse), I get disproportionately excited whenever I see him in anything - fortunately, he is not in much, so this only does minor damage. Then I discovered that one of the leads in Sunshine on Leith is the spit of how I pictured Jack, so I spent the whole film staring at a romantic, singing, Scottish counter-Jack, growing increasingly disturbed - that was, until he declared that he intended to be drunk alongside a woman(cleverly disguised in a song) at which point I realised that it was Jack in disguise.
But worst was the Maths exam.
One does not expect to find the name of one of one's favourite characters in one's Maths exam.
Especially regarding their selling of umbrellas.
Erin-Cobra suggested that I add a footnote to Seeking regarding Jack's fate in order to quell my growing agitation, as it was never specified in the original story and it may help my brain calm down a little. So there it is: what really happened to Jack after he lost his job at the Seeking compound.

Rao bored and on too much pain medication? Noooo...

(in order to understand even a squiggly tiddly mite of this, you will have had to have read seeking; you may do so here)

I'm having a hard time picturing Jack as an umbrella salesman, but alrighty then.
