Hear Me

Very conceptual work.
If this work was any more conceptual, it wouldn't be a piece of artwork: it would be philosophy.

So yes, I'm still obsessed with Ten and his brothers(three taken, one in reserve!) and I had a "I must do art" moment. I could have gotten in even more practice with watercolour pencil sketches, however I fancied a little variety, for my gallery as much as anything, so decided to attempt a technique I've been debating about for a while. This is watercolour pencils and fineliner, nothing else; I used just the black and the red pencils, and then experimented to my little heart's content. Not only is this incredibly conceptual, but it is probably, like everything, very symbolic. Essentially it's supposed to show Ten's relationship with his brothers, at least how he feels it - they're off ahead being perfect Roman legionnaires, getting promotions and favour and wives, with their proud crowns and their glatici(plural of glaticus...?) and their big flow-y cloaks - and then there's him, standing behind, in the blow back of their legacy, with nothing but a broken knife and a tattered cloak.
Human anatomy is debatable, but getting myself to draw three near-identical figures was hard enough, and I was focusing more on technique than execution. Generally, I'm happier with how it came out than I expected to be.

I'd like to experiment further in the future, using watercolour paints, watercolour pencils, fine liner and ink.

Words are lyrics from Ten's new song, Hear Me, by Imagine Dragons - in Art lessons, I see a lot of people putting their text like this. I've never fancied it before, but now I figured it fit with the flow-y, experimental style of the piece more.
